Thoughts

Robert was such a respectful , and thoughtful child . Being in his company you just knew he had a gift of making people feel special . He would sometimes come to our house and play with my brother Michael as they were in the same class in Ethelburga .

Thought from mum Robert was an inspiration and a great motivator to many individuals. His predicament did not prevent him from being whom he wanted to be. He believed that everyone had a potential, given the chance. He was an example to the youths, who might have otherwise felt hopeless and unloved. He always had a sympathetic ear, and would spend time for a chat, and using his catch phrase: “Never give up!” He reassured and gave encouragement at every opportunity.

I remember when Robert was in a minor car accident where he was hit by an unlicenced driver. Even though his insurance company appointed him his own lawyers he used to ring me all the time for advice on the case. After months of this I thought I'd try to make him feel uncomfortable: "Robert, you know you're lucky to be getting all this advice for free because other clients have to pay for it by the hour!" "Oh really Kojo? How much do they pay?" "£150 plus VAT!" "For the advice you give Kojo?" "Yes!" He thought for a second and then said before hanging up "(laughing) They're being over-charged by £149!" That was Robert - always having the last word...
